STEM Education School in Beirut for Curious Problem-Solvers
STEM education connects science, technology, engineering and mathematics with inquiry, coding, robotics and creative problem-solving. Through our IB learning programs, Design + Technology curriculum and after-school activities, we help students develop the skills to explore ideas, work together and find practical solutions.
A STEM Education School in Beirut Where Students Learn by Doing
Choosing a school involves more than looking at the subjects on a timetable. Parents want to know whether their children will learn to ask questions, think independently and use what they study in meaningful ways. Science, maths and technology provide an important foundation, but students also benefit from opportunities to investigate problems and develop their own ideas.
At Eastwood International School, our approach to STEM education in Beirut brings together academic learning, practical exploration and creative thinking. Our IB Primary Years Program (PYP) encourages children to investigate the world around them, while the IB Middle Years Program (MYP) develops connections between subjects such as sciences, mathematics and design.
Our Design + Technology program adds another dimension through coding, robotics, digital creation and project-based learning. Students have opportunities to examine problems, explore possible solutions and understand how technology can be used with purpose.
Located in Mansourieh el Metn in the Beirut area, Eastwood welcomes families looking for an international school where STEM-related skills develop through a connected educational pathway. Rather than presenting STEM as a separate qualification, we incorporate these learning opportunities into our wider academic programs and activities.

Early STEM Learning Through the IB Primary Years Program
STEM learning begins with curiosity. Our IB Primary Years Program encourages young children to ask questions, explore patterns and experiment through inquiry-based activities that connect learning with everyday experiences.
As students progress through elementary school, they explore science, mathematics and coding while developing observation, investigation and problem-solving skills. Teachers encourage independent thinking and reflection to build a strong foundation for future learning. Discover more about our IB-PYP Elementary program.
Science and Mathematics Connected to Real-World Problems
Science and mathematics are essential parts of STEM education at Eastwood. Students build subject knowledge while learning to apply concepts to practical situations and everyday challenges.
Our elementary program connects subjects through transdisciplinary learning, helping students understand relationships between mathematics, coding, science and the world around them. In the IB Middle Years Program, sciences, mathematics and design become distinct subject groups that strengthen analytical thinking, evidence-based reasoning and problem-solving skills.
Coding and Robotics for Developing Computational Thinking
Coding helps students break complex problems into manageable steps, organize instructions, recognize patterns and improve solutions through experimentation.
Eastwood's Design + Technology curriculum introduces programming through tools such as Cubetto, an educational robot, and ScratchJr, a visual coding platform for creating interactive stories and games.
As students progress, they explore more advanced programming concepts and practical applications. Robotics provides opportunities to connect coding with physical systems, encouraging computational thinking, creativity and technical problem-solving.
Design + Technology That Turns Ideas Into Solutions
Our Design + Technology program encourages students to understand how products are developed and how technology can solve real-world problems.
In the IB Middle Years Program, students follow a four-stage design cycle: inquiring and analyzing, developing ideas, creating solutions and evaluating results. This structured approach strengthens creativity, analytical thinking and decision-making.
Students learn to test ideas, refine their work and understand the impact of design choices. Explore our Design + Technology program for curriculum details, learning tools and project examples.
Hands-On Innovation and Digital Creativity
Practical STEM learning helps students turn classroom knowledge into real-world applications. Eastwood's Design + Technology curriculum includes experiences involving virtual reality, 3D printing, electronic circuits and digital design.
These activities introduce concepts such as spatial awareness, measurement, product development and the connection between software and physical technology.
Through creative projects, students explore how technology works, why it matters and how it can be used to develop practical solutions.
After-School STEAM and Robotics Activities
Eastwood's extracurricular program provides opportunities for students to explore their interests, collaborate with peers and develop skills beyond regular classroom lessons.
Our after-school offerings have included STEAM + robotics activities, allowing students to explore science, technology and creative projects through practical experiences.
Activities and availability vary by term. Families can explore our after-school activities or contact the school for current STEM-related options.
Building the Four Essential Skills of the 21st Century
STEM education develops more than technical knowledge. Eastwood's Design + Technology approach emphasizes four essential skills: critical thinking, creativity, communication and collaboration.
Students strengthen critical thinking by analyzing problems, creativity by developing solutions, communication by explaining ideas and collaboration by working effectively with others.
These transferable skills support academic learning, personal development and future opportunities in science, engineering, technology, design and other fields.
Our Programs
-

IB-PYP Early Years (English/French)
A Montessori-based program for a solid foundation, our IB-PYP Early Years program, offered fully in English or French, includes yoga, mindfulness, music+movement, performing arts, language immersions, science, STEM-based activities and much more…
-

IB-PYP Primary Years (English/French)
The IB-PYP (offered in English or French) encourages self-directed learning, based on student interests, in collaboration with the teacher. We recognize that each child comes with a unique set of hopes, dreams, passions, backgrounds, talents, needs, knowledge, and experiences.
-

IB-PYP French Section (Section Française)
EIS propose le Programme Primaire (PP) en français en raison de l’importance qu’occupe la langue française dans l’histoire, la culture et les affaires contemporaines du Liban.
-

IB-MYP Program (English)
Our IB-MYP curriculum is concept-based, which is an approach to curriculum design that moves away from subject-specific content and instead emphasizes on key concepts which are “big ideas” that can transfer across multiple subjects.
-

IB-DP Program (English)
The IB Diploma Program (IB-DP) is a world-recognized high school diploma option for those seeking the ‘best of the best’ when it comes to academic opportunities. The IB-DP is a rigorous high school program held to international standards - not those set by our school or by Lebanese ministries.
-

American High School
EIS offers an American High School Diploma for students with international passports. Our American school curriculum starts as early as the middle school years, leading into high school graduation. Students eligible to enroll in an American school in Lebanon possess the legal exemption from advanced studies in Arabic by the Leb. government.
-

Lebanese Program
The Lebanese Program is one of the three programs offered by EIS. Lebanese students at EIS are first introduced to the LB Program through Social Studies and Math instruction in grade 8; then the full LB Program is implemented grades 9 through 12.
-

Design + Tech
The aim of the Design and Technology program at EIS is to help students develop the four Cs of the 21st century: critical thinking, communication, collaboration, and creativity. Mastering these competences would provide students with a robust foundation to conquer an ever-changing world.
-

Mindfulness Program
To ensure we provide children with the time and the skills to manage themselves and their environments and find balance, EIS has made mindfulness courses a part of its program for all students, starting in Nursery through to Grade 12.
-

Duke of Edinburgh’s Intl Award
At Eastwood International School in Lebanon, students are provided the unique opportunity to participate in The Duke of Edinburgh’s International Awards program.
The Duke of Edinburgh’s International Award is a systematized program for completing personal development milestones, in a documented way, with oversight. It teaches youth to pick an achievable goal, work towards it, stick to it, and see it through until the end. That act in itself says a lot; it requires a strong mindset to not give up, and to do what you say you’re going to do - even to yourself.
-

After-School Programs
Our after-school activity program is rich with unique activities, including Leadership, Mindfulness, Robotics, Photography, Theater…and even a Study Clinic in which our learners can pair up with teachers and their friends for extra academic support. Christmas Painting Events, Wellness Day, Cookie Decorations, Clay Night, and so much more are also part of the parent-child activities.
Not to mention international celebrations, such as International Day of Tolerance, Culture Day, EIS Tours the World, and so much more. This is all in efforts to reinforce the sense of community in our school. -
