A Montessori-Based Preschool in Beirut Where Children Learn by Doing
Starting preschool is a big moment for a family. You want your child to feel comfortable with the people around them, make friends and find the confidence to try something new. You also want to know that play has a real place in their learning, not simply a break between lessons.
At Eastwood, we bring Montessori-inspired independence and discovery into our IB Primary Years Program (PYP) Early Years setting. Children have opportunities to explore, ask questions, use their imagination and make choices suited to their age. Teachers guide their learning through experiences that build communication, coordination, and social skills.
Our Early Years classes include Nursery, KG1 and KG2, with English and French sections. From our campus in Mansourieh el Metn in the Beirut area, we welcome families who want their child to begin with a thoughtful, active introduction to school. Our preschool combines Montessori-based early learning with the IB-PYP, so these foundations are part of a connected school pathway.

How Our Montessori-Based Approach Supports Young Children
Young children learn a lot by doing things for themselves. We encourage them to explore materials, practice new skills, talk about what they notice, and keep trying when an activity is challenging. Play is central to this process. It gives children opportunities to experiment, cooperate and understand the world around them while teachers help them extend their thinking.
English and French Learning Pathways
Families can choose an English or French Early Years section. Children also encounter other languages through songs, conversation and activities. In the English section, they are introduced to French and Arabic; in the French section, they are introduced to English and Arabic. This gives language learning a natural place in the day, through experiences young children can enjoy and understand.
From Montessori Foundations to the IB Learning Journey
Montessori-based learning is our starting point, not a separate track that ends after preschool. Early Years forms part of the IB Primary Years Program. As children grow, they can move into our IB-PYP Elementary program, where inquiry and independent thinking continue to develop. Our wider school pathway also includes the IB Middle Years Program and IB Diploma Program. Families can explore each stage and discuss the right pathway for their child with our team.

Duke of Edinburgh’s Intl Award
At Eastwood International School in Lebanon, students are provided the unique opportunity to participate in The Duke of Edinburgh’s International Awards program.
The Duke of Edinburgh’s International Award is a systematized program for completing personal development milestones, in a documented way, with oversight. It teaches youth to pick an achievable goal, work towards it, stick to it, and see it through until the end. That act in itself says a lot; it requires a strong mindset to not give up, and to do what you say you’re going to do - even to yourself.
-

After-School Programs
Our after-school activity program is rich with unique activities, including Leadership, Mindfulness, Robotics, Photography, Theater…and even a Study Clinic in which our learners can pair up with teachers and their friends for extra academic support.
